At this rate, heating and eating in the UK will soon be dismissed as ‘woke’

People living in the UK are on a daily basis being delivered a crash course in the callous indifference to human suffering and despair that passes for mainstream politics in our time.

With Boris Johnson cavorting around the world on a farewell tour, living it up like a latter day Louis XIV with his missus the notorious Carrie Antoinette,by his side — a vision of corpulent decadence and madness — we’ve had a summer in which both candidates for new leader of the Conservative party, Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak, have been wooing Conservative Party members with a vision of Britain that would make Maggie Thatcher shudder with fear, it’s so extreme and out of whack.

Billionaire Sunak, resplendent in his three grand tailored suits and Prada shoes, has been regaling the 160,000 or so right wing nutcases who make up the party’s membership with the assurance that he knows what it’s like for hard working families (Why is it always hard working families with these people? Why not hate working families?) as the country enters an unprecedented cost of living crisis. He believes in Britain, he pontificates, while having memes of himself walking side by side with Ukrainian President Volodymer Zelensky put out on social media to confirm that he is nothing if not a master of subtlety.
