Biden is a lame-duck president with nothing to lose. WWIII never closer as a result

‘An evil man will burn his own nation to the ground to rule over the ashes.’

The above quote — commonly attributed though perhaps erroneously to Chinese philosopher and military strategist, Sun Tzu — should be inscribed in large letters on whatever memorial is erected to the presidential legacy of Joe Biden.

This after he, the lame-duck leader of an outgoing administration, took the decision to push the world closer to WWIII than it has ever been since the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962 — and do so in open defiance of his incoming replacement, Trump, who has made it abundantly clear that when it comes to Ukraine, ending the conflict is a priority. Biden’s decision in this context falls into the category of the mendacious chasing the malign.

Biden may be acting lawfully with this escalation, but ethically? In the interests of his office, country, and a world clearly imperiled by it?

The 46th president is intent, clearly, on leaving the Trump administration with a headache when it comes to Ukraine. By seeking to create this new escalatory fact on the ground, Biden will only ensure that another already difficult challenge for a Trump presidency will be rendered event more difficult.
