Hi Jeff,

Thanks for your response to my latest piece.

On the Trump = Hitler comparison, I find not an exact comparison but def parallels vis--a-vis the role of a capitalist system in crisis in bringing both outsiders to the fore of mainstream politics.

No historical comparison can ever be completely symmetrical, but Jan 6th riot of 2021 and the Munich Beer Hall Putsch of 1923?

Trump embroiled in legal battles thereafter as was AH.

I see Trumpism as the closest ideological movement to American fascism there has been. Yes, he talks the talk about downscaling US overseas military commitments, but I would put this down to a recognition of overreach rather than principle.

For Trump and his followers, the main enemy is at home in the form of the liberal establishment at one end of the spectrum and 'illegal' migrants from south of the border at the other.
