Jesus was the Che of his time, and if alive today would be fighting for the Palestinians
In his classic ancient work, The Jewish War, Jospehus — writer and participant in the Jewish revolt of 66–73 CE — ascribes the following words to the Roman commander, Titus, when addressing his men prior to going into battle against the Jewish rebel army near Tiberias.
Titus:
Remember again that you are fighting in full armour against men who have none, that you are horse and they are foot, that you have leaders and they are leaderless.
It would be difficult to find a more accurate and apt rendering of the current conflict in Gaza than this, if we substitute the Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defence Forces Rav Aluf Herzi Halevi, for Titus, and the Merkava battle tank for ‘horse’ in the above quote.
Just as the Jews of ancient Galilee faced down the vastly superior forces of the Roman Emperor Vespasian and his son and heir, Titus, in their time, so their equivalent — the Palestinians of Gaza — are currently facing down the forces of the Roman emperor of ours, namely US President Joe Biden and his very own King Herod in the person of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
