Who can possibly comprehend the thoughts that worm their way through the mind of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as his head hits the pillow after another long day and night of directing the mass murder of children, babies and infants in the long benighted Gaza Strip? But as somebody once opined: “No man does evil in his own mind.”
Mass murder in the name of an idea and ideology has peppered human history. Alexander, Cyrus, Caesar, Genghis Khan, Napoleon, Queen Victoria, Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot , Baghdadi— human history has undeniably been forged in the crucible of mass murder.
In this respect, Benjamin Netanyahu is merely the latest in a long line. The only difference is that in an age of social media, this particular bastard has forced us all to spectate at the slaughter he has unleashed not in the name of security and anti-terrorism, as endlessly claimed, but rather in the name of national, cultural, and religious supremacy.
