No, I’m not ‘moving the goalposts’ at all; instead I merely make the point that just as communism underwent seismic shifts in orientation through space and time, due to both objective and subjective factors, so did Christianity. The emancipatory parallels between early Christianity and early communism are striking, as are the authoritarian and oppressive parallels between late Christianity and late communism.
