Tim, I accept your point re the result of the Greek referendum, but surely, given the xenophobic and reactionary political context in which our EU referendum was taking place, the only principled position for the left was not to campaign for the EU but against Brexit. It is significant that despite how much they have suffered under EU-imposed austerity a majority of Greeks continue to support the EU and euro. I suggest this has something to do with their understanding that the centrifugal forces at the heart of the EU are dominated by the right and that Greece is a country and the Greeks a people who know what fascism looks like.
