Strip away the fancy words, and this is what Trump’s Gaza ‘peace plan’ for Gaza amounts to. It is a ‘plan’ that denies the rights of the Palestinians in every particular. It ignores the unparalleled suffering they have endured, the biblical sacrifices made in the name of their righteous resistance to a Zionist project fashioned in the name of ethno-supremacy, and their right to decide their own future and fate.

It is, in sum, a Roman peace, forced upon them at the point of a gun. And just to add insult to grievous injury, the idea of arch war criminal Tony Blair being imposed upon them as a latter day colonial governor — well, this is where perfidy resides.

October 7 2023 was a day that will live not in infamy but in defiance. It proved to the Israelis and their miserable Western backers that despite their condition as a people confined to a latter day Indian reservation — and that despite the racist disregard for their humanity — the Palestinians remain defiant. It also revealed a level of planning and ingenuity that no colonised or enslaved people is ever supposed to possess.
