Hamas is the child not parent of Israel’s war crimes
The chief prosecutor attached to the International Criminal Court (ICC) — Prosecutor Karim Khan KC — has just broken new and unprecedented ground.
His statement calling for arrest warrants to be issued not only for leading Hamas figures — Sinwar, Deif, and Haniyeh — as you might expect given the current geopolitical landscape, but also for Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, has been met with an eruption of indignation in both Tel Aviv and Washington.
Hitherto, the crimes of the apartheid State of Israel had been allowed to take place in the metaphorical dark, shielded by an international order led by Washington which operates on the basis not of international humanitarian law, but on the basis of a hierarchy of human worth according to culture, race, religion and Westernisation.
In this rancid hierarchy, Westernised Israeli Jews sit at the apex, while Palestinians have been condemned to exist near the bottom, thus determining that their lives are of lesser value and lesser importance.
