Zelensky Goes to Washington — This Time with a ‘Victory Plan’ in Hand

Though ‘Mr Zelensky Goes To Washington’ may not have the same ring to it as the title of the classic 1939 Frank Capra movie, ‘Mr Smith Goes To Washington’, his latest appearance in the US capital does carry with it the distinct whiff of a scripted satirical affair.

Unlike his previous trips to Rome in seek of more money and military support from his imperial master, this time round the diminutive superhero has come armed with his self-described ‘victory plan,’ which he claims will succeed in bringing Russian leader Vladimir Putin to his senses and end the war sooner than later.

Said ‘plan’ amounts to a renewed attempt to drag Washington and its Western allies into direct military confrontation with Moscow. With the current stage of a conflict that began with the Maidan coup in early 2014 now well into its second year, Ukraine’s khaki-clad-leader’s continues to refuse to countenance the possibility that getting every Ukrainian man of fighting age killed is not coterminous with any plan worthy of the name.
